Spotify's post-English AI future

Spotify now sees more than half of its listening in non-English languages, and the company is leaning into that shift with localized pricing, payment infrastructure, and support for artists across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. AI tools are playing a quiet but significant role in enabling this expansion—from discovery algorithms to localization pipelines—though the power those systems hold over which artists surface globally deserves scrutiny. This is a rare case where platform growth and cultural breadth appear, at least partly, aligned.
