Nikon and Canon's APS-C cameras are getting a versatile new lens

Tamron's well-regarded 17-70mm F2.8 — a genuinely useful walkaround zoom that's been popular on Sony E-mount since 2020 — is finally coming to Canon RF and Nikon Z APS-C shooters at $749. It covers a longer range than either mount's current F2.8 zoom options while staying relatively compact, which matters a lot when you're trying to travel light with one lens. The original had some optical quirks like onion-ring bokeh and distortion, so it's not perfect, but at this price bracket for this range it's a compelling option.
