Sony's latest flagship drops the continuous optical zoom that made previous Xperia 1s distinctive, swaps in a redesigned camera system, and keeps the beloved headphone jack and microSD slot. It's a genuine step change for the line — but at £1,399 / ~$1,850 and no US launch, 'for the fans' is doing a lot of heavy lifting. If you're already in the Xperia cult, this review is required reading; everyone else can admire from a distance.
